Setting the early technological pace with ultra High Definition and OLED TVs; The Korean manufacturer LG is upping the ante with '3D Sound' enabled Home Cinema.
LG's BH9420PW introduces the intriguingly named '3D Sound Zooming' system.
A clever algorithm works in tandem with LG's 3D TV engine to analyze the depth of on screen 3D images and adjusting the sound accordingly. Although we can't be sure at this point in time, we are assuming that bigger, deeper objects will have a greater acoustic impact.
Adding four upright 3D speakers to the mix, the BH9420PW gets the 9.1 treatment, up from the traditional 5.1 (four speakers and a sub woofer).
A 360-degree 'deflector' within each of the four extra dimensional speakers projects sound in all directions. LG have been keen to point out that this is the first time that the vertical airspace has been given serious consideration.
No word yet on how much LG are likely to charge for their new Home Cinema system; but adding a not inconsiderable amount of style to this exciting technological package, we will be saving our pennies in anticipation ...
