Panasonic V20 LCD

With their high end V20 LCD TVs along with the D25 and D28 series, Panasonic are beginning to establish themselves in the ever popular LED TV market.

All of Panasonic's LED TVs use the less sophisticated 'Edge' based implementation of backlighting technology (for ultra slim screens), employing white LEDs arranged around the inside frame along with a special diffusion panel designed to spread the light evenly behind the panel.

IPS (In Plane Switching) panels provides a wider 178° viewing angle for clearer off-axis images. Panasonic have indicated that these latest IPS panels feature greater levels of contrast with reduced energy consumption.

The V20, D28 and D25 all get built-in Freesat HD and Freeview HD tuners for free (no subscription) High Definition programmes. Bear in mind that Freeview HD services are currently being rolled out across the UK, so it is important to check via Freeview whether they are available in your area.

Via the LAN port or using the included wi-fi dongle on the V20, you can access Panasonic's on line 'Viera Cast' service with the likes of YouTube and 'Skype' (currently showing a 'coming soon' message). You can also stream media files from a PC via DLNA.

Elsewhere you get 200 Backlight blinking Intelligent Frame Creation Pro, the latest incarnation of Panasonic's picture processing circuitry, V-Real Pro 5, 4 HDMIs, 2 Scart sockets, 2 USB and an SD card slot.

The D28 model range differs only slightly from the D25, offering ISFccc calibration features (37in and 32in models). You also get a 'Photo Frame' design with a choice of purple white or silver colours while the 22in and 19in models get an iPod dock. As mentioned, the V20 get a wireless LAN adapter and a rather smart 'metallic concept design'.

The V20 LCD TVs are available in 42in and 37in sizes. The D28 come in 37in, 32in, 22in and 19in varieties with both 37in and 32in models offering Full HD resolutions. The D25 offers 42in, 37in and 32in screen sizes.
