According to the communications watchdog OFCOM, the UK has witnessed the largest percentage TV viewing increase in Europe at 3.2%.
We now spend 3.8 hours a day watching TV, a little above the European average of 3.5. Although we watch more TV than France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden and Ireland, we are still behind Spain, Poland and Italy.
All of us are still trailing behind US viewers however, who watched an average 4.6 hours a day, up 1.8% from 2007.
The Swedes continued to watch the least TV at 2.7 hours a day, although this was an increase of 1.9% over the previous year.
Other interesting facts revealed by OFCOM's survey in its annual International Communications Market report - the UK enjoys the lowest mobile and broadband prices, but broadband speeds are often slower than the rest of Europe.
The UK has maintained its position as the country with the highest proportion of main TV sets converted to digital television. An 88% conversion represents an increase of 3% on the previous year. The US followed with a total of 76% of sets converted to digital TV, a 6% increase.
