Like one of their main competitors in the 3D TV field, Panasonic, Sony are planning to incorporate their 3D technology in a range of consumer based products. Top of the list to receive the 3D treatment are Blu-ray Disc products, Vaio laptops and the PlayStation 3 games console.

The big Hollywood studios, TV companies and manufacturers alike are all backing 3D as the next big thing. Sky are planning to launch a 3D TV channel in 2010 while a number of manufacturers are backing the new format with a range of compatible products.

A number of 3D Hollywood blockbusters are likely to significantly develop and sustain interest in the format over the coming months. Whether consumers buy into the new format with considerable outlay on products for the home remains to be seen.
