LG have introduced an alternative to Samsung's ultra slim LED TV's with their equally svelte SL9000 series.

The visually stunning 42in and 47in screens adopt LG's SEAMLESS ™ Design where a single sheet of glass covers the entire front area of the panel. With a depth of just 2.9mm the overall effect is quite stunning.

The SL9000 comes with an anti-glare Full HD (1920 x 1080) panel along with 100Hz processing. Bluetooth is on hand to connect devices such as wireless headphones, or playing back music or movies from suitably equipped multimedia devices.

A particularly useful Eco feature, Intelligent Sensor 2, detects whether or not anyone is in the room watching the TV; if not, it will switch itself off.

While LG's SL9000 uses a less sophisticated 'edge-based' implementation of LED backlighting, the technology allows LG to produce much more competitively priced screens.

Whether or not LG's new LED TV's can significantly chip away at Samsung's market dominance in this area remains to be seen. If it was a talent contest on looks alone, they would stand a pretty good chance.
