Sharp unveil LE600 and LE700 LED TV's
Thursday, 06 August 2009 11:45 UK

Offering what Sharp describe as 'unprecedented image quality and energy-efficient, eco-friendly performance' the consumer electronics giant has introduced their LE600 and LE700 LED TV's.

The LE600 series will be available in 32in, 40in and 46in models, while the LE700 adds a 52in model and 100Hz throughout the range. The LE700 also gets a quicker 4ms response time and an extra HDMI taking the total up to 4.

Sharp's new "X-Gen Panel" makes an appearance on the new screens, which introduces proprietary "Mega Contrast" and "Brilliant colour Processor" technology. Sharp are claiming deeper blacks and more accurate and vivid colours from the new circuitry.

LED TVs use a technology which replaces the traditional always-on single bar-style fluorescent backlight present on the majority of LCD's with hundreds of Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). The LE600 and LE700 both employ less sophisticated 'Edge Based' LEDs which make the panels more affordable. The LE600 and LE700 should be available from UK retailers by the end of this month with the 32in LE600 set to debut at an affordable (for an LED TV) £750.
