

From this July, Virgin Media subscribers will get four new channels broadcast in HD which include Living, FX, MTV and National Geographic.
The good news for Virgin's cable customers is that the new high definition channels will be available to its top television package subscribers (XL) for nothing. Virgin Media has also confirmed that it is currently in talks with UKTV to put GoodFood HD on to the schedule.
With FX in the HD line up, subscribers will be able to enjoy the likes of Dexter, NCIS and Generation Kill in 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound. Virgin's new high definition offerings will sit alongside their existing HD linear channel, BBC HD.
Virgin Media's Neil Berkett commented: "As more homes become HD-ready, the launch of four new HD channels marks the next stage in the evolution of our pioneering TV service".
Of course, what a large number of Virgin subscribers would really like to see become available is premium HD content such as sports and movies from Sky ...
