Along with a number of manufacturers, Panasonic are introducing TV's which enable internet access directly from your TV. Their V10 series are latest to offer us a form of web browsing.
The Viera Cast button on the V10's remote takes you directly to Panasonic's own internet portal where you can watch YouTube videos, look up stock quotes and access a small but growing amount of content. Although the content is limited when you compare it to the web as a whole Viera Cast is an interesting first foray into Web enabled TV technology.
Elsewhere, DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) makes it easier to integrate your electrical entertainment appliances as part of a home network. Viewing your still JPEG holiday snaps stored on a PC through your TV is just one of the many benefits DLNA brings.
Slipping quietly under the radar and perhaps the most important element of the V10, Panasonic's V-real Picture Processing Engine now comes in the shape of V-real 4. V-real 4 will do as much as any other technological element of these screens to determine picture performance. The V10 also comes with a Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and a healthy 4 HDMI inputs.
The whole of the V10 series are 'Freesat' enabled. Freesat is a free (no subscription) digital TV satellite service which offers over 140 digital TV and radio channels. The service was launched on 6th May 2008 as a joint venture between the BBC and ITV.
