Last chance to buy Pioneer Kuro Plasma TV's

Pioneer has announced that they are to discontinue production of their legendary Kuro range of plasma TV's.

After the 1st April this year, Pioneer will continue to produce the 60in KRP-600A and the 50in KRP-500A but only as a limited run of 3,000 units. Once that figure has been reached, no more plasma screens will be produced.

Pioneer has reassured existing customers that it will continue to fully support their plasma products, confirming that they will be maintaining an 8 year stock inventory.

The news should not put off those of you who are considering buying a Pioneer TV at this time with Jim Catcheside, Product Manager for Home Business Division at Pioneer GB stating that: "Warranties will be unaffected and the products fully supported by Pioneer, from spares to software and support - engineering support will be maintained at Pioneer."

This could well be the last chance for consumers to get hold of what are generally recognized as the finest TV's in the world, although we are pretty sure that Pioneer technology will appear in some shape or form on other TV manufacturer's offerings.

Designed to counteract the loss of detail due to a lack of smoothness in the incoming video signal, Pioneer has recently demonstrated the latest slice of its picture processing wizardry, codenamed 'Fuga'. The emphasis is very much on improving a low quality input while high-grade images pass through the circuit untouched. We wouldn't bet against 'Fuga' technology and more appearing on plasma screens offered by other manufacturers at some time in the future.
