Sony BDP-S5000ES goes for High-End Blu-ray market

Having already had a successful entry into the market with budget and mid-range Blu-ray players, Sony are now targeting the high-end sector with their BDP-S5000ES.

One look at the BDP-S5000ES indicates that Sony have got serious about their Blu-ray player offerings. This is a larger unit than any other Sony Blu-ray player with a solid aluminium fascia hinting at a much more sophisticated piece of kit. Sony have certainly made it clear where they think the BDP-S5000ES's place should be in the electronics world, ES standing for Elevated Standard.

Innovative 'Super Bit Mapping Technology' gives you the option of matching the players output with your TV's bit depth. Having 14-bit video processing at its disposal, the Sony won't come across many TV's that it can't match in this respect. An HD 'Reality Enhancer' gives fine-tuning of the picture on the fly while 'Vertical Edge Correction' and 'Precision Cinema HD' promise images that are smoother and sharper

BD Live

This is a profile 2.0 player, so Ethernet (for BD-live interactive content) and USB connections come as standard. BD-Live technology allows you to download or stream additional content such as movie trailers, additional scenes, shorts, film-based games, and more. With Bonus View, you have "picture-in-picture" capability with some Blu-ray titles.
