

According to DisplaySearch, a US based analyst company, worldwide sales revenues of LCD TV's are predicted to fall 16% to $64 billion in 2009 despite an increase in unit sales.
Although LCD TV unit sales are predicted to increase 17% to 119.9 million units, aggressive discounting will see an overall drop in revenue. This is good news for the consumer in the short term as there will be plenty of bargains around in the coming year.
The whole of 2009 will be a good year for consumers to purchase a new LCD TV with manufacturers discounting heavily throughout the period. We could also see manufacturers adding high end features such as Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution panels and 100Hz processing to base and mid range models.
The good news for manufacturers of plasma TVs is that unit sales are predicted to grow by 24% to 13.9 million units in 2008 and to 14.6 million units in 2009 with a corresponding increase in revenue.
