The Dark Knight smashes Blu-ray sales record

Bringing a timely boost to sales of Blu-ray, the latest Batman film, 'Dark Knight' is the biggest ever first day seller for the High Definition format.

Staring Christian Bale and the late Heath Ledger, the most recent chapter in the Batman series of films witnessed sales of 513,000 units on its first day of release.  According to the British Video Association (BVA) over 107,000 (21%) of copies sold this Monday were in the Blu-ray format.

The Dark Knight has also come out on top of a poll to find the favourite movie of 2008. 'Pearl & Dean' have revealed that Christopher Nolan's second batman film was selected by more than a third of the 3,000 respondents to a questionnaire.
