After an absence of around 18 months following a well publicised disagreement over pricing policy, Sky One, along with Sky Sports News returns to Virgin Media on November 13th.
Sky's CEO, Jeremy Darroch, stated: "This is great news for Sky and Virgin Media customers alike. We want our channels to be enjoyed by as many people as possible so we're delighted to secure their return to the Virgin Media platform." The agreement between Sky and Virgin sees the return of Sky1, Sky2, Sky3, Sky News, Sky Sports News, Sky Arts 1, Sky Arts 2, Sky Real Lives and Sky Real Lives 2 to the Virgin Media platform.
Virgin Media CEO Neil Berkett added: "We are pleased to bring our carriage negotiations with Sky to a successful close. I believe this agreement represents a fair deal and is the right thing for our customers."
The two parties originally fell out having failed to reach agreement over the pricing of Sky channels, Virgin Media accusing Sky of over inflating its prices while Sky maintained that the price rises were justified. The disagreement resulted in the removal of a number of Sky channels from Virgin's schedule at the beginning of March 2007.
The new agreement between BSkyB and Virgin Media will see the return of shows such as 'Lost' and new episodes of the 'Simpsons' although interestingly there have been no indications that any of Sky's High Definition channels will be made available to Virgin Media subscribers.
