Featuring new 37in and 42in screens, Philips' second generation Aurea LCD TV's feature a range of technological and aesthetic improvements.
In simple terms, Philips' Aurea technology has given us an LCD TV with a luminous bezel which changes colour depending on what the screen is showing, an extension of their 'Ambilight' technology.
Both screens now feature 100Hz Clear LCD with faster 2ms refresh rate (previously 3ms). Contrast ratio is up from 8,000:1 to 30,000:1 and there is an extra HDMI taking the total to 4.
Philips say they have improved 'Ambilight Spectra technology' for a smoother surrounding light.
A new 17bit processor is good for a mind boggling 2,250 trillion colors and Perfect Natural Motion has replaced HD Natural motion.
Aesthetically, the border between the 'Active Frame' transparent bezel and the screen panel is now a less intrusive grey colour, rather than black.
The 42in Aurea can now be paired with Philips' white Ambisound Soundbar to create a single unit 5.1 home theatre system.
