

Indicating a growing trend among some manufacturers towards a modular approach to flat panel TV's, Sharp have introduced their ultra slim top end XS1 Aquos LCD series.
The 52in and 65in models are just 23mm at their widest point. Not surprisingly the LC-52XS1E and LC-65XS1E manage to achieve their svelte like appearance with the help a separate media receiver.
The new screens feature a detachable speaker system along with five 2.1 channel speakers. Elsewhere there is 100Hz refresh with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution.
Gallery mode, which enables images from a USB stick to be displayed in Full-HD, confirm that these screens are meant to be seen and admired at all times. A brushed aluminium finish really does give the new panels a top end appearance.
The high end appearance and top notch spec come at a price however with the LC-52XS1E and LC-65XS1E likely to cost around £8,000 and £11,000 respectively.
