Samsung 9 series flagship LCD TV's

Samsung's familiar 'Touch of Colour' technology gets a further twist with the introduction of their charcoal gray 9 series LCD TV's which also feature a distinctive honey-comb pattern.

The flagship 9 series uses LED SmartLighting technology which replaces the conventional bar-style fluorescent backlight with hundreds of Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). This helps produce a claimed 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio along with a more natural color representation.

Samsung say that SmartLighting (along with local dimming technology), achieves "actual black levels" by having the ability to shut off a pixel's light source, eliminating any hint of grey.

Adding to the technological mix, Samsung's improved Ultra Clear Panel virtually eliminates ambient light ensuring perfect picture clarity even in bright viewing conditions. With 4 HDMI inputs and 100Hz 'Motion Plus' technology, the 9 series looks set to become the next must have LCD.

Samsung's InfoLink RSS service has been designed to provide touch-of-a-button access to news, weather, and stock quotes, although we are not sure exactly what form the technology will take in the UK. Prices and availability for the 46in and 52in 9 series have yet to be confirmed.
