The BBC's hugely successful TV on-demand service, the 'iPlayer' has had its first major update.
The next generation iPlayer will provide access to BBC radio networks. On-demand radio from the BBC has been available since 2002 and has been phenomenally successful in its own right, with around 600 million hours listening.
The BBC iPlayer allows users to watch programs from the past seven days free of charge by playing them direct on the BBC iPlayer website or downloading them to their computer. The addition of 'radio' was always seen by the BBC as a natural progression of the 'iPlayer' service.
The latest 'iPlayer' also sports a 'last played' feature along with a larger playback window, a TV schedule and categorisation features. The updated service will be launched within the next few weeks.
