Pioneer have announced an upgrade to their existing BDP-LX70 Blu-ray player. The BDP-LX71 will arrive in the UK this summer and feature a number of significant improvements over its predecessor.
The BDP-LX71 will support bitstreaming and decoding of Dolby TrueHD and DRTS-HD Master Audio sound formats.
Delivering films at there intended 24 frames per second, the BDP-LX71 should now produce 'judder' free movies on your high definition TV. There is also support for 12-bit deep color, an improved graphical interface and closer integration with Pioneer's 'Kuro' range of HDTV's.
The BDP-LX71 comes with a 1.1 blu-ray profile (rather than the 2.0 spec now available as a firmware upgrade on Sony's PlayStation 3). The inclusion of a Ethernet port however should make the upgrade quite painless, if and when it comes.
No word yet on pricing but lets hope that it is a little less expensive than Pioneer's current PDP-LX70.
