Hitachi L37X01 Full HD LCD
Hitachi L37X01

Noted more for their Plasma screens than their LCD offerings, the Japanese electronics giant Hitachi aims to change that perception with the 37in L37X01 LCD TV which features Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution.

With 3 HDMI connections (1.3) along with SD card slot and USB ports, the L37X01 is part of the leading pack when it comes to connectivity.

New for the L37X01 Series is 'Movie FRC' Hitachi's proprietary frame rate conversion technology. Designed primarily to reduce image judder during horizontal panning Movie FRC introduces additional frames (the technology actually makes a best judgment) to smooth out the picture. The two new plasmas from Hitachi also have the ability to accept the 1080p 24 format available from some Blu-ray and HD DVD high definition players.

The picture processing heart of the the new X series is Hitachi's acclaimed Picture Master HD Processing which has been designed to reduce video 'noise', improve colour saturations, detailing and colour tone.

Just as exiting as the L37X01 are the 50in 50XR01 and 60in XR01 Plasma screens from Hitachi with all the features of the L37X01 along with built in 250GB hard disc recorders. Twin digital tuners on these screen allow you to watch one channel while recording onto the HDD from another. With the ability to pause live action and 'chase back' when you resume along with other high end PVR functions, these screens are set to cause quite a stir.

No word yet on pricing, but all of the new models should be available in the UK towards the end of the year. If you can't wait until then to get your hands on a Full HD Hitachi, the P42T01U and P50T01U are available now.
