

Quite possibly becoming the most prolific blu-ray device producer of recent times, Sony have released no less than four Blu-ray Hard Disk recorders in Japan.
The BDZ-X90, BDZ-T70, BDZ-T50 and BDZ-L70 sport 500GB, 320GB, 250GB and 320GB Hard Drives respectively with all of the devices featuring 24p true cinema, MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 encoding with support for lossless TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio and hi-definition bitstream output, BRAVIA link and AVCHD support.
AVCHD (Advanced Video Codec High Definition) jointly developed by Sony and Panasonic, is a high definition recording format seen recently on Sony's range of HD Camcorders.
At the launch, Sony Executive Deputy President Katsumi stated, “With high-definition TVs spreading rapidly and more digital cameras and camcorders are becoming HD-ready, time is ripe for household recorders to move onto a next generation. We intend to make all our recorders in the domestic market Blu-ray compatible.”
No word yet on whether these HDD blu-ray recorders will make their way over to the UK, watch this space ...
