Toshiba Regza Z series
Toshiba Regza Z Series

Following the likes of Samsung and Sony, Toshiba are set to release a range of LCD TV’s which combine Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution with 100Hz processing.

Similar in operation to other manufacturers 100Hz processing systems, Toshiba’s Active Vision M100HD technology doubles the number of frames shown on previous LCD TV's from 50 to 100 by interpolating an extra frame in between each source frame.

Colour reproduction on the Z series has been enhanced with the introduction of 10 bit processing which increases the number of available on-screen colours which should result in more precise detailing. Additionally, colour processing is further refined by employing 'Dynamic Gamma Curve Correction' technology which has been designed to provide a smoother transition of the colour tones.

As usual (and we take these figures with a pinch of salt) with the introduction of any new LCD series from most manufacturers, dynamic contrast ratio has increased to 15,000:1. The new sets sport 3 HDMI inputs along with a built-in digital Freeview tuner.

Audio comes in the shape of SRS WOW® technology through an ONKYO® speaker system, which offers cinema-like sound utilising only the integrated speakers.

Due out this September and available in 37in, 42in, 47in and 52in sizes, the Z Series will be priced at around £1300, £1500, £1800 and £2200 respectively.
