Samsung F8 with Full HD and 100Hz
Samsung F8 Series

Samsung is the latest manufacturer to offer Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution screens allied to 100Hz picture processing with the announcement of their forthcoming F8 series of LCD TV’s

Initially the F8 series will be available in 40in and 46in sizes with 3 HDMI (1.3) inputs and a claimed contrast ratio of 25,000:1. Samsung’s Wide Colour Enhancer is employed on the new panels to boost colour detail by introducing a wider range of hues.

Like other incarnations of 100Hz processing, Samsung’s MotionPLUS system doubles the number of frames shown on previous LCD TV's from 50 to 100 by interpolating an extra frame in between each source frame. The benefit of such a system is that ‘motion blurring’ with fast action scenes is significantly reduced.

The F8 sets will be on these shores from September, with the 40in model priced at around £1399 and the 46in available for around £1899. If you can’t wait, Samsung’s M87 range of LCD TV’s sport Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution panels.
