Sony W3000 in the UK this September
Sony W3000

Indications within the LCD industry strongly suggest that Sony's W3000 panel will be with us in the UK by September 2007.

With styling reminiscent of Sony's current range topping LCD Bravia 'X' series with a translucent outer frame, the new 'W' series will be available in 40in, 46in and 52in sizes.

The W3000 features a 1920 x 1080p resolution panel like the existing W2000 series, but adds the latest BRAVIA Engine EX picture processing engine currently available only on the current 'X' series.

Additionally, the W3000 series now sports improved connectivity with 3 HDMI inputs (two at the back and one at the side) and comes equipped with Sony's all new x.v.Colour technology.

Sony's x.v.Colour mode almost doubles the range of colours that can be accurately reproduced by the W3000, now covering almost 100 percent of natural colours. A technology which closely matching the natural characteristics of the human eye, x.v.Colour creates more vivid, authentic reds, blues and greens beyond the limitations of the conventional sRGB colour space.

Those of you hoping for an LCD TV from Sony with 100Hz processing allied to a 1920 x 1080 resolution screen will have to wait until the end of October for the new 'X' series. Sony's 'Motionflow +100Hz' technology doubles the number of frames shown on previous Sony LCD TV's from 50 to 100 by interpolating an extra frame in between each source frame. The 'D' series (32in and 40in) are the only UK LCD TV's currently available with Motionflow technology.

No word yet on pricing for the new 40in, 46in and 52in 'W3000' series LCD TV's but expect the 40in and 46in models to be roughly in line with the current 'W2000' series.
