The European Imaging & Sound Association (EISA) has named Pioneer's PDP-508XD as the best Full HD (1920 x 1080 resolution) Plasma in Europe.
EISA is one of the most well respected multimedia associations in the world and represents the coming together of 47 magazines from 18 different European countries.
Each year, the editors from all EISA member magazines meet to decide which of the products reviewed in their publications during the past year merit the coveted EISA Award. Six categories under consideration include: Audio, Video, Home Theater, Photography, Mobile Electronics and Convergence
Within the 'Video' category, EISA summarized why the Pioneer PDP-LX508D merited the award;
"Once again Pioneer has reaffirmed its mastery of plasma picture quality. The ‘Full-HD’ PDP-LX508D sets a new standard for that key benchmark of home cinema video performance: black level depth. To achieve this exceptional result, Pioneer has simultaneously improved the three fundamental display elements - panel, filter and electronics - while at the same time paying close attention to picture processing, including motion compensation subsystems. Plus, as befits such a home cinema workhorse, the PDP-LX508D is also capable of reproducing high definition movies in their original format of 24 frames per second, exactly as they would be seen in a movie theatre."
The PDP-LX508D will be available in the UK towards the end of the year, following on from the recently introduced PDP-508XD which shares all of the technological innovations of the PDP-LX508D apart from Full HD resolution.
