Those of you with existing subscriptions to Sky Sports channels through the cable operator Virgin Media would have been pleasantly surprised this Saturday to find live football on Setanta Sports channels without having to pay an extra penny.
In fact, a total of six Setanta Sports channels have been made available to existing "Premium" subscribers, with a line up that includes Setanta Sports 1, Setanta Sports 2, Setanta Golf, Setanta Sports Ireland, Celtic TV and Rangers TV. In addition to 46 Live premiership games this season, other high profile sporting events such as the US PGA Tour will be available.
New Virgin Media subscribers will have the option of an XL Media package for around £20 a month which includes all of the Setanta Sports channels and a total of over 125 digital channels.
Virgin Media are claiming that the equivalent coverage from Sky would cost at least £100 more and that they are the only provider to offer all available premiership coverage in one bundle.
Sky will point to the fact that they are now offering an impressive line up of High Definition sporting action throughout the coming year through their two dedicated HD Sports channels.
