Chic Home Cinema with Sony DAV-X10
Sony Dav X10

Demonstrating an uncanny ability to create products just that little bit more stylish than the rest of the pack, Sony have introduced their Dav-X10 Home Cinema system. Featuring virtual surround sound from just two speakers, it also has the substance to back up the style.

Combining two small 80-watt speakers with an 80-watt sub woofer, the DAV-X10 delivers virtual surround sound through Sony's S-Force PRO Front Surround technology.

Designed with simplicity in mind, plug the Sony DAV-X10 into the mains with its single cable, sit down with the included microphone in your favorite goggle box position and watch the Sony Digital Cinema Auto Calibration work its magic. In around 30 seconds, the system will go through an automatic configuration routine optimized for your own personal environment.

With a sleek glossy black finish the DAV-X10 is very easy on the eye, and with no additional wires and being incredibly light it is simplicity itself to set up. No indication that blu-ray capability will be included in any variants, but the unit will upscale DVDs to 720p and 1080i to breath new life into your film collection.

The lack of true 5.1 channel surround sound may in time prove to be the DAV-X10's Achilles heel, but for now we have been seduced by the incredible ease with which the unit can be set up and the sleek minimalist design. The DAV-X10 does everything you would expect, playing DVD R/RW, DVD R/RW, SACD, Video CD, MP3 and DivX as well as the odd nice surprise - a Blutooth adapter to connect to your Sony Ericsson WALKMAN phone.

No word yet on pricing, but the DAV-X10 will be available in the UK from this September.
