Showing a commitment to expanding its pay-per-view as well as its subscription offerings, BT Vision in partnership with Setanta Sports will be making available 75% of all premiership football games for the next three years starting from this season.
Before the link up with Setanta, BT had the rights to show 242 "near live" games, which was a little misleading in that these "near live" games only be available for viewing after 10.00pm of match day. However, we have to applaud BT for delivering on its promise to supply a true on-demand service, with individual games from the 242 available for purchase at £1.99.
Consumers will be able to access the Setanta live content through a smart card attached to their BT Vision box with a total of 46 live matches being made available for a monthly subscription of £9.99. This subscription also includes 60 live Clydesdale Bank Premier League games, live US PGA Tour golf and more content from the Setanta Sports channel.
Consumers will have the option of paying a £4 monthly subscription for all of the 242 "near live" games (standard package), £9.99 a month for the Setanta Sports package as described above or £12 for both (Total Sports package).
CEO of BT Television, Dan Marks said "We’ve said that BT Vision will be offering the best in all-round entertainment and this includes the very best of sport. This partnership with Setanta means BT Vision will provide customers with unparalleled coverage of both live and on-demand sport and we’re looking forward to exploring many more sports opportunities together".
