Carole Hersee may not be a name that many of us are familiar with, but as the face of the the most famous TV Test Card, millions of us know the face. Test Card F first appeared on our TV screens 40 years ago, and was the first to feature a person - the daughter of a BBC engineer George Hersee - so that skin colour adjustments could be made to the TV.
Carole was pictured with a grinning toy clown playing noughts and crosses. Noughts and crosses however was not chosen randomly, with the X marking the dead centre of the card.
For its HD satellite service, Sky has reinvented the classic BBC test card featuring Myleene Klass. The new test card girl can be found on Sky channel 268 where she will give viewers a humorous 10 minute tutorial guide to setting up their High Definition TV.
Myleen Klass, former member of the pop group Hear Say said: "I'm really excited to be the face of the Sky HD test card and to be taking part in a little piece of TV history"
Originally shown on BBC2 in the summer of 1967 test card F was shown for an estimated 70,000 hours. It is widely believed that 48 year old Carole holds the record for the most TV appearances by a single person.
Sky's chief engineer, Chris Johns added: "We hope that are Sky HD test card will become as iconic as the original and create a place for Myleene in the TV hall of fame"
