3D TV's heading your way in 2010 |
2010 is the year of 3D TV in the home
For many of us, 2010 is the year that 3D TV in the home becomes a reality. This year, Samsung, Sony, LG and Panasonic are all planning to release the first consumer 3D enabled TV's.
Samsung
Samsung's C9000, C8000 and C7000 LCD TV's will all feature an implementation of the Korean manufacturers 3D processor. All three panels will also do a pseudo 2D to 3D conversion of on screen content
Samsung C7000 (40in, 46in, 55in), Due: Late April, Est Price: £1800 (40in)

Samsung C8000 (32in, 40in, 46in, 55in, 65in), Due: Late April

Samsung C9000 (46in, 55in), Due: Late Summer

Sony
Higher end screens are 3D capable straight out of the box, while Sony describe other models as '3D ready', an optional 3D transmitter and glasses required for the full 3D experience
Sony LX903 (40in, 60in), Due: June, Est Price: £2000 (40in)

Sony HX903 (46in, 52in) HX803 (40in, 46in), Due: June, Est Price: £2199 (46in HX903), £1600 (46in HX803)

LG
Both the 47in and 55in models employ the 'Active Shutter' 3D system which is compatible with Sky's forthcoming 3D channel
LG LX9900 (47in, 55in), Due: May, Est Price: £2900 (47in), £3900 (55in)

Panasonic
Panasonic is alone in integrating 3D solely with plasma technology (Samsung are also planning to release a 3D plasma TV). Blacker blacks and faster response times are cited as the reason for choosing Plasma over LCD.
Panasonic VT20 (50in, 65in), Due: Late Summer
